For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology

FIRST was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen. The first ever FRC competition was held in 1992 in a New Hampshire High School Gym.

Since then FIRST has continued to grow at an incredible pace. By the year 2000 FIRST had grown to include 372 teams who attended 10 different regional events! Today FIRST has 3 different competitions: FRC (Over 1000 teams and 41 regionals), FTC (FIRST Tech Challange) and FLL (FIRST Lego League)

As of now FIRST has reached out to over 130,000 students and will be reaching evermore every year!
